Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Molecular & Cellular Biology)

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Laboratory Technician to support the CamMed Therapeutics research team to develop the RNARISE technology. In this role, you will split your time between essential lab operations (inventory, ordering, reagent preparation) and hands-on molecular and cell culture experiments.

This role is at the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst.

Key Responsibilities

1.Laboratory Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment compliant with biosafety protocols.

  • Prepare standard laboratory stock solutions and buffers (PBS, Tris-EDTA, etc.).

  • Monitor inventory, track lab supplies, and assist with ordering and restocking.

  • Document all experimental workflows and stock preparations meticulously.

2. Molecular & RNA Biology Support

  • Conduct routine molecular biology assays, including RT-qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and PCR.

  • Assist with RNA and DNA quantification NanoDrop.

3. Cell Culture Maintenance

  • Maintain and passaged mammalian cell lines.

  • Assist researchers with cell transfection experiments.

  • Prepare media, buffers, and aliquots for cellular assays.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Education: Enrolled in or holding a Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 6–12 months of hands-on academic or industry wet-lab experience (outside of standard classroom lab courses).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proven experience with basic molecular biology techniques (pipetting accuracy is a must).

    • Fundamental understanding of aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture.

  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on routine tasks after initial training.
